Indigo Water Thinnable Cement Primer – Silver Series
This primer is engineered to be the smart, economical start for painting on new cementitious surfaces. Positioned in the cost-effective Silver Series, it provides the essential functions required to prepare a wall for its topcoat without the premium cost. It addresses the basic challenges of a new cement wall—porosity and moderate alkalinity—creating a uniform, sealed base that improves the finish and coverage of the final paint. This makes it a go-to product for large-scale projects, rental property turnovers, and any situation where achieving a clean finish while adhering to a strict budget is paramount.
Performance & Key Attributes
- Effective Alkali Resistance:
- Provides an effective barrier against the moderate alkalinity found in well-cured cement plaster. This helps prevent discoloration and damage to the subsequent paint layers, ensuring a longer life for the topcoat.
- Good Adhesion & Surface Grip:
- The formulation ensures a good bond between the wall and the topcoat, providing a reliable grip that reduces the chances of peeling or flaking under normal conditions.
- Seals Porous Surfaces:
- It seals the absorbent pores of the cement surface, which prevents the topcoat from sinking in. This leads to a more uniform finish and helps you get better coverage from your chosen emulsion or distemper.
- Provides a Uniform Base:
- Dries to a clean, uniform base that helps in achieving the true colour and appearance of the topcoat with fewer coats, contributing to overall project savings.
- Highly Cost-Effective Solution:
- Its primary advantage is its formulation, which provides dependable performance at an extremely economical price point. This makes it the ideal primer for large-volume work where material cost is a major factor.

Systematic Application Guide
- Surface Preparation (Non-Negotiable): For an economy primer, proper preparation is even more critical. New cement plaster must be allowed to cure for a minimum of 28 days. The surface must be completely dry and cleaned of all loose dust, dirt, and any other contaminants.
- Dilution: Stir the primer well. Dilute with clean water as per the recommended ratio to achieve a smooth, applicable consistency.
- Application: Apply one even coat of the primer with a brush or roller, ensuring no areas are missed.
- Drying: Allow the surface to dry completely for at least 4-6 hours before applying any topcoat.
