Dr. Fixit Pidicrete URP is a modified Styrene Butadiene Rubber emulsion. When added to a cementitious mix, the polymer particles disperse and form a continuous matrix within the cement paste. This polymer film coats the cement and aggregate particles, improving internal cohesion. Furthermore, it creates a strong adhesive bridge when applied between different layers of concrete, ensuring a seamless and durable bond.
A Truly Multipurpose Admixture:
The versatility of Pidicrete URP is its greatest strength, allowing it to be used in several distinct applications:
- As a Bonding Agent: Applied as a slurry (URP + cement), it creates a high-strength connection between existing concrete and new repair mortars, screeds, or plaster. This is crucial for patching damaged floors, repairing columns, and for plastering over old concrete.
- For Repair Mortars and Renders: When mixed with a cement-sand mortar, it creates a “polymer-modified mortar.” This mortar is dense, has high strength, is crack-resistant, and possesses excellent adhesion, making it perfect for repairing spalled concrete in beams, columns, and slabs.
- For Waterproofing and Protective Coatings: A slurry of URP and cement can be applied in two coats to provide an effective waterproof membrane. This is suitable for waterproofing small roof terraces, sunken slabs in bathrooms, water tanks, and sumps. It also acts as a protective layer against environmental degradation.
- As a Crack Filler: A thicker paste made from URP, cement, and fine sand can be used to fill non-moving cracks in plaster and concrete, preventing water ingress.
Method of Application (General Guidelines):
- Surface Preparation: The substrate must be clean, sound, and free from all loose particles, dust, and grease. The surface should be pre-wetted to a saturated surface dry (SSD) condition before application.
- As a Bonding Slurry: Mix 1 part URP with 1.5 parts of fresh cement to form a lump-free slurry. Apply a single coat to the prepared surface. The repair mortar or plaster should be applied while the bonding coat is still tacky.
- As a Mortar Modifier: Add 10-15% of Dr. Fixit Pidicrete URP by weight of cement to the pre-mixed cement-sand mortar. Reduce the amount of water accordingly to achieve the desired consistency.
- As a Waterproof Coating: Mix 1 part URP with 1.5 parts of cement. Apply the first coat of the slurry to the prepared surface. Apply the second coat after 4-6 hours in a direction perpendicular to the first.
Technical Specifications:
- Appearance: Milky white liquid
- Specific Gravity: 1.01 ± 0.01 at 25°C
- pH Value: 8.5 – 10
In essence, Dr. Fixit Pidicrete URP is an indispensable admixture for professionals seeking to enhance the quality, durability, and longevity of repairs and waterproofing applications.
