Dr. Fixit Pidifin 2K is an advanced polymer-modified cementitious coating.
- Component A (Liquid): A high-quality acrylic polymer emulsion that provides flexibility, adhesion, and durability.
- Component B (Powder): A precisely blended mix of cements, well-graded quartz sand, and active chemical additives.
When mixed, the liquid polymer modifies the cementitious matrix, creating a dense, less porous structure with enhanced flexibility. The result is a tough, elastomeric membrane that moves with the structure without rupturing, providing a reliable and long-lasting waterproof barrier.
Primary Applications:
Due to its high performance and flexibility, Dr. Fixit Pidifin 2K is the preferred solution for critical waterproofing areas:
- Terraces and Roofs: Ideal for waterproofing concrete flat roofs and terraces, especially those that will be covered with a protective screed or tiles.
- Bathrooms and Wet Areas: Provides a robust waterproof layer for sunken slabs, shower areas, and toilets before the installation of tiles.
- Water Retaining Structures: Perfect for waterproofing swimming pools, sumps, and both overhead and underground potable water tanks.
- Basements and Retaining Walls: Offers excellent protection against water ingress from the soil in below-ground structures (negative side waterproofing).
- Balconies and Podium Slabs: Effectively waterproofs areas exposed to the elements and potential movement.
Method of Application:
- Surface Preparation: The surface must be clean, sound, and free from any loose particles, grease, or contaminants. Any damages or cracks should be repaired. The surface must be pre-wetted to a saturated surface dry (SSD) condition.
- Mixing: Pour the liquid component (Part A) into a clean container. Slowly add the powder component (Part B) while continuously stirring with a mechanical mixer (at a slow speed of 400-500 rpm). Mix for 2-3 minutes until a smooth, lump-free, and uniform consistency is achieved. The standard mixing ratio is 1 part liquid to 2 parts powder by weight.
- Application: Apply the first coat of the mixed slurry onto the prepared surface using a stiff brush. Ensure complete and uniform coverage.
- Second Coat: Apply the second coat after the first coat is touch dry (typically 4-6 hours). The application of the second coat should be in a direction perpendicular to the first to ensure a seamless, pinhole-free membrane. A fibre mesh can be embedded between coats over joints or cracks for added reinforcement.
- Curing: The applied coating must be protected from direct sunlight and wind. It should be allowed to air cure for at least 72 hours. For water tanks, allow 7 days of curing before filling.
In summary, Dr. Fixit Pidifin 2K is a premium, flexible cementitious coating that offers a reliable and durable waterproofing solution for the most challenging and critical areas of a building.
